Deter thieves and protect your property by installing security lights.
Protecting your home and family has never been more important; with more and more people installing lighting and security systems burglary crime has dropped 7% year on year according to the Office for National Statistics.
There are three main types of security lights:
PASSIVE INFRARED (PIR) SECURITY LIGHTS
PIR lights are activated by a sensor which is triggered by body heat, so the light will switch on when someone walks into the sensor’s field of detection. The area over which the sensor works can be adjusted; this helps to avoid lights being triggered by people passing by.
DUSK-TO-DAWN SECURITY LIGHTS
These security lights do as their name suggests; stay on from sun-up to sun-down. They normally use low pressure sodium lights which are much less intrusive but will deter intruders and allow you a view of the garden and premises; eliminating shadowy areas for intruders to lurk in. Although they may sound energy inefficient, new models have a high intensity discharge lamps for efficiency.
SOLAR POWERED SECURITY LIGHTS
A relatively new product, solar powered security lights charge during daylight and activate at night when motion is detected. They can be easy to install as they don’t need to be connected to the electrical mains and don’t cost anything to run.
